Ahmed Farag, M.D., C.M.

Dr. Ahmed Farag, Board Certified Diagnostic Radiologist and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, is President of Diagnostic Imaging Specialists of Chicago P.C.

A native of Montreal, Canada, Dr. Farag has lived and practiced in the Chicago, Illinois, area since July of 2000.

In 1990, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Physiology from Montreal's prestigious McGill University, where he also obtained his MD and Master of Surgery degrees in 1994. He performed a rotating Surgical/Medical internship at the Royal Victoria and Montreal General Hospitals in 1994/95, and, in 1999, he completed his radiology residency at McGill's Royal Victoria Hospital, where he was Chief Resident of Radiology. Dr. Farag completed his Fellowship training in Thoracic Imaging at the Brigham and Women's Hospital of Harvard University in June of 2000, where he was awarded the Fellow Teacher of the Year Award by the hospital's residents and by the medical students at Harvard Medical School.

In July of 2000, Dr. Farag joined Northeast Radiology Associates, where he provided mammography and other diagnostic screening, as well as imaging and counseling services to the patients and physicians at Lake Forest Hospital and its imaging facilities for over nine years. From 2003 through mid-2009, he served as Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the Radiology Department at Lake Forest Hospital. Dr. Farag left Lake Forest and Northeast Radiology Associates in 2009 when he acquired Dr. Joan Werber's well-established diagnostic radiology center in Chicago. Building on the fine reputation Dr. Werber earned among the Chicago area medical community over two decades, Dr. Farag opened a new office space on Chicago's Magnificent Mile at 60 EastDelaware Place and launched Diagnostic Imaging Specialists of Chicago, working with Dr. Werber to provide comprehensive, fully digital Women's Imaging services – mammography, ultrasound and bone desitometry – to Chicagoland physicians and their patients.

Dr. Farag is a senior member of the Society of Thoracic Radiology, and member of the American College of Radiology and the Radiologic Society of North America, the North American Society of Cardiac Imaging, the Illinois State Medical Society, and the Lake County Medical Society.
